Wax torso
Melted is a performative reflection about the body as a materiality that changes and is malleable, where gender lives and its expression makes sense.
This performance invites to the deconstruction of the hegemonic idea that dictates the body has a binary biological sex. While the wax torso is melted, people can observe the destruction of the body itself using a heated air gun that discharges its violence against it. We don’t only destroy our assigned gender, but we make it malleable for its possible reconstruction through the search for a new identity.
Also, we question the way in which AMAN (Assigned Women at Birth) bodies have been represented until now by artistic hegemony, now showing it as something organic and constructed at the same time.
