Melted

Melted is a performative reflection about the body as a material entity that changes and is malleable, where gender resides and finds meaning in its expression.

This performance invites to the deconstruction of the hegemonic idea that dictates the body possesses a binary biological sex. As the wax torso is melted, people can witness the destruction of the body itself through a heat gun that discharges its violence against it. We don’t only destroy our assigned gender but also render it malleable for its possible reconstruction through the search for a new identity.

Furthermore, we question the way in which AFAB (Assigned Female At Birth) bodies have been represented by artistic hegemony until now, presenting them instead as something both organic and constructed.
